Great news everybody...at long last Southend Family Resource Centre has a place to call home.
We are about to complete the signing of contracts with Wexford Borough Council to take possession of Seaview House (pictured) in Maudlintown. The Boat Shed is located on the grounds of this house already, and we envision a multi-use community facility, with space for all ages and groups on one dedicated site.
We are hugely grateful to Co Wexford VEC, through the Young Person's Fund for Services and Facilities programme, for providing the funding for this exciting development. It promises to herald a new era for the Centre, where it belongs, at the heart of the community.
The next step in the process is to send the job out to tender and we hope to start work in the coming months.
While we have secured the money to develop the house to a habitable and useable state, there won't be a lot left over for decoration, equipment or landscaping (to name but a few examples), so you can expect to hear from us in the not too distant future, when we will be seeking a big dig-out from the community in getting this job done.
Well done to everyone involved to date in this huge achievement!
